Budget flights to see the Northern Lights

Iceland express are offering special cheap flights for travelers who want to see the Northern Lights on a tight budget.

For a limited period, flights with the budget airline from London Gatwick to Reykjavik, will only cost £149 return. The flight prince includes all taxes, surcharges, and a bag in the cabin and the hold.

This year NASA are predicting that the famous Northern Lights will be brighter and more spectacular than they’ve been in half a century – making viewing the Northern Lights a once-in-a-lifetime experience in 2012. Holidaymakers will be able to see the Northern lights in Reykjavik until late spring.

Previously Iceland has been regarded as a luxury destination but now cheap flights are making the country more accessible to budget travelers. Furthermore, the UK pound is currently very strong against the Icelandic Krona, meaning a better conversion rates for Brits.

Public relations manager for Iceland Express, Haimir Mar Petursson, suggested that thrifty travelers can also save money by claiming tax back at the airport on all their holiday purchases.

He said, ‘We hope UK travellers will be enticed to experience an Icelandic spring with our special return flight price. Whether it's an alternative skiing break, an unusual city break in Reykjavik or a weekend getaway, Iceland has so much to offer.’

The budget airline’s offer is only available until 26th March 2012. Dates must be booked before 6th February.
